Menard zooms to 36th spot nationwide in NASCAR

Matt Kenseth of Cambridge dropped three places to 12th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings.

That's after he took 27th over the weekend at the Subway Fresh Fit-500 in Phoenix.

Paul Menard of Eau Claire held steady at No. 32 in the point totals. He placed 23rd on Saturday night.

Mark Martin won the race, and Jeff Gordon remains the Sprint Cup points' leader. In the Nationwide Series, Wausau native Scott Wimmer rose six spots for the year to 27th.

That's after he took 19th on Friday night in the Bashas' Supermarkets 200 in Phoenix.

Menard jumped four spots to 36th in the Nationwide standings, after placing 14th in the 200.
