Maiden Rock board will discuss road bids next month

MAIDEN ROCK --- With the news the state's Department of Transportation (DOT) approved the Hill Street road project, the Maiden Rock Village Board acted to proceed early last week.

Bids for the project must be to the village by Wednesday, March 28, with the bids to be discussed at the Monday, April 2, meeting. The goal is to get Hill Street up to standard, along with applying over 1,300 feet of crushed rock to that area.

In other news, the board:

--Approved charging a $20 fee for assessment services and delinquent utility searches.

--Opted out of a contract so area businesses on the Great River Road won't be part of the National Scenic Byways Program. The village is given the opportunity to re-enter if it's in the best interest.

--Thanked Fairmont Minerals for their help with removing all the snow.

--Set the next meeting for 7 p.m. April 2.
