RF teen pleads guilty to sexual assault

Sarah Wallin, 19, 1330 Sycamore St., River Falls, pled guilty Monday in Pierce County Court to an amended charge of fourth degree sexual assault.

She received deferred prosecution/sentencing for a year. If she completes classes in parenting and sexual education during that time, the charge will be dismissed.

"Those classes will accomplish more than anything else," said District Attorney John O' Boyle, in discussing the plea hearing. "She's already endured a significant consequence."

The original charge was second degree sexual assault of a child from an incident back in February when River Falls police learned Wallin had given birth to a girl approximately seven to eight weeks earlier.

The criminal complaint said she told RF police investigators she had sex with a then-14-year-old boy before her 18th birthday last year. When the boy was interviewed, he admitted to having sex with Wallin, but only once, and took full responsibility for being the baby's father.
