The tropics come to Prescott with Cabana Jo's

PRESCOTT - To appease her boyfriend, Paul Andrews, Amy McElmury, accompanied him on a trip to Prescott this past March.

Andrews wanted to show her the former Steamboat Inn that he along with his partner Bruce Lenzen had purchased.

The pair's original idea, McElmury explained was to turn the land into condominiums with the view overlooking the St. Croix River.

McElmury looked around the location and thought otherwise.

"This is a great location for a bar," she said.

Neither Andrews nor Lenzen had any experience in running a bar. Fortunately, McElmury had bartending and accounting experience.

And with that, Cabana Jo's was developed. They started renovating the place on April 4 and were ready to open the morning of the Spring Flood Run, April 21.
