St. Croix Valley SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) has announced its new board members.

They are: Mike O'Connell, Katharine Grant, Ken Zak and Richard Range. The complete board membership is comprised by Pam Bellrichard, Grant, Susan Halseth, Ann Gustafson, Mark Richert, O'Connell, Cathy Borgschatz, Kristi Pavek, Jaye Ann Hay, Zak and Range.

SART is a nonprofit organization providing free comprehensive services to victims of sexual assault. Since its inception in 2001, SART partnered with local medical communities and law enforcement agencies to create a unique program solely addressing sexual assault.

SART's forensic nurse examiners and volunteer advocates help victims in their journey to recovery from the initial examination through the prosecution of the suspect. Forensic nurse examiners are specially trained to perform medical examinations, treat injuries, collect evidence to identify and help prosecute the suspect, test for date-rape drugs, and offer medications for sexually transmitted diseases and reproductive health concerns. Follow-up care for the victim and his or her loved ones is available as well.

SART mainly serves sexual assault victims in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties. However, any man, woman, or child (13 years or older) who are sexual assault victims may come to the SART Center.

SART has produced an educational video, "A Crime of Violence: Understanding Sexual Assault," that is appropriate for use with middle and high school students and parents. For more information about purchasing the video or obtaining other general information, contact SART or go to
