Prescott woman injured in accident has died

An 85-year-old Prescott woman who was injured in a July 7 accident died over the weekend.

Ruth M. Karl died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, according to Pierce County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jason Matthys.

Matthys said Karl had reached a point where she was going to be released, but then suffered a heart attack, which proved to be fatal.

Karl was one of three passengers in a vehicle driven by Janet Wuorenma, 55, Prescott, who was eastbound on Hwy. 10 when she told sheriff’s deputies she had some kind of medical condition and lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the centerline and struck a group of mailboxes. It then struck a ditch and a large tree, coming to rest in the north ditch, facing east.

The other two passengers were Lois J. and Eugene B. Ruhr, both 86, who also resided in Prescott.
