UPDATE: Prescott teen transported after rear-end crash

A Prescott teenager was transported directly to Regions Hospital in St. Paul Saturday afternoon after his car rear-ended a stopped van on Hwy. 10, about six miles east of Prescott.

Marcus Meyer, 16, was unconscious in his 2002 Ford Focus when Pierce County authorities were advised of the accident at 1:58 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28 in front of the Valley Bar & Grill in the town of Oak Grove.

Occupants of the Dodge Caravan -- driver Matthew Derusha, 54, of River Falls, and an unidentified passenger -- were westbound and were either stopped or slowing to turn left into the

Valley parking lot, when the collision occurred.

Deputy Adam Olson said in a news release that Meyer was transported from the scene by Prescott Ambulance personnel with undetermined injuries.

A spokesman for Health Partners said Monday morning that Regions Hospital had no record of Meyer as a patient there. That may mean he was transferred to another facility or was treated and released.

Neither Derusha nor his passenger required medical attention.

It was raining and roads were wet at the time of the crash, Olson said.

The accident remains under investigation, Olson said.
