Father dead, three kids hurt in Saturday afternoon crash near Hudson

The State Patrol continues to investigate a weekend crash near Hudson that killed a man and injured four people. The D-O-T said 38-year-old Scott Shoemaker of Black River Falls died, after his car failed to stop for a stop-sign on a town road and collided with a mini-van coming from his left. It happened late Saturday afternoon on Tower Road near Old Highway 35 in Saint Croix County. Shoemaker died at the crash scene. His two daughters, ages 12 and 16, were in serious condition at last word at Regions Hospital in Saint Paul. Their 14-year-old brother suffered non-life-threatening injuries, as did the driver of the other vehicle.
