Minneapolis man transported, cited after crash

A 34-year-old Minneapolis man was taken to River Falls Area Hospital early Sunday morning following a rollover accident in the Clifton Hollow area of CTH F near 820th Avenue, west of River Falls.

Jonathan Carlson was identified as the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier that failed to negotiate a curve in the road. It struck a guard rail, entered a ditch and spun around, coming to rest about 60 feet off the road.

Because of initial reports that Carlson was trapped in the car, a medical helicopter was initially called but later cancelled.

Pierce County sheriff's deputy Adam Olson said in a press release that alcohol was likely a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Carlson was issued a citation for operating while intoxicated, first offense, according to Chief Deputy Jason Matthys.

River Falls firefighters and ambulance personnel assisted deputies on the 12:12 a.m. call.
