More details emerge from truck/trailer fire in Prescott

The Prescott Police Department and Fire Department announced more details from the truck and trailer fire Dec. 23. 

On 8:20 p.m. the police and fire departments, along with the Emergency Medical Services, were dispatched to a truck and trailer on fire in a parking lot behind storage units at 1431 Canton Street. 

A full-size 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck towing an enclosed utility trailer with an all-terrain vehicle inside it were on fire. The pickup, trailer and ATV were extensively damaged. The vehicles were unoccupied. 

An investigation showed the pickup, trailer and ATV had been stolen in a burglary to the residence of the owner in rural Osceola in Polk County. The vehicles were owned by Morgan Companies. The burglary and theft had not been discovered by the owner at the time of the fire. The burglary and vehicle theft were subsquently reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Prescott Fire Department, but it is believed to be suspicious. 

The case remains under investigation by Prescott fire, Prescott police and the Polk County Sheriff's Department.
