Washburn takes over the Pamida reins
Dan Washburn started earlier this month as the third store manager of the Ellsworth Pamida since its opening less than a year ago.
The turnover is something he plans on changing.
"I plan on being the last," he said. "I love the town so far and plan on moving my family here."
Washburn, 30, was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and raised in Mora, Minn. He started working for the Pamida Mora nearly 10 years ago in its receiving department and worked his way up to Assistant Manager there before being promoted to the Ellsworth position.
"Their convenience, the one-on-one customer service," he responded when asked what he likes about the company. "How they go out of their way in helping the community. Pamida is huge on community service."
One of his immediate goals is giving the store a complete makeover. Employees are at the top of the list.
"We're going to be retraining all the employees," he stated, as Pamida's headquarters signed off on the move. "There was a lack of accountability in training the employees when the store opened.
"They're going to be starting over from new. It's going to be a big learning process in the next couple of months."
