Ellsworth rod, gun club calendar sales pitched to Ellsworth chamber

A fundraising project for the Ellsworth Rod and Gun Club was presented to the local chamber of commerce Thursday.

Lars Loberg of both organizations reported the rod and gun is selling 2012 calendars. The sale will be limited to 1,000 of the calendars.

Drawings will then be held weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays next year, Loberg said. Cash or guns will be awarded as prizes, in the total value of $30,000.

Calendar buyers who win once will still be eligible to win again in drawings thereafter, he said. With help doing the math from Jack Hines of both organizations, he calculated participants will have one chance in 10 of winning at least $200 in prizes.

The drawings will be held at The Outdoor Store in Ellsworth starting in January, Loberg said. The drawing dates and the specific prizes for each of those dates will be listed with the calendars, which are numbered.

"We're trying to raise money for our pheasant and habitat improvement projects," he said.
