Sand plant's solid with table Maiden Rock woodworker built
MAIDEN ROCK--The sand with which employees work at a Maiden Rock plant may shift, but a table in the company's conference room should long remain solid.
The table at Wisconsin Industrial Sand is the handiwork of John May, an area cabinet and furniture maker. May said Friday he completed the 12 foot-two inch by five foot-four inch piece of furniture this past fall and more recently finished a corner cabinet for the conference room as well.
Plant Manager Al Nelson visited May's shop, looked at a prototype and, within 10-to-15 seconds, told him to build one like that, the latter said.
Beyond specifying it be large enough for 12-to-14 office chairs to go around, he left him alone to do the project.
