Like father, like son: Jared Murphy now part of Re/Max team

Jared Murphy

Jared Murphy didn’t have to look far for inspiration in choosing a career.

“Real estate has always been on the radar,” he said. “Especially after being exposed to it through my dad (David).”

Now, Jared can learn a lot more from his father as Jared recently became a licensed real estate agent and joined the Ellsworth Re/Max Results team, where his dad works.

“I’m learning every day,” he said. “I’m lucky I’ve got great teachers in Jay (McGrath) and dad. It’s been great.”

The 2005 Ellsworth High School graduate attended UW-Madison, where he earned a degree in real estate and business management. After working for three years in Minnesota, Murphy was looking for a change.

“It was a chance to come back home and I was ready for it,” he said about the opportunity to work at Re/Max. He started in September, and is licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Murphy said being exposed to the business during his teenage years has led to few surprises now that he sees it on a daily basis.

“I have really enjoyed seeing a lot of different places and properties,” he said. “It has also been great being able to help different people find what they are looking for.”

Murphy’s addition isn’t the only change to Re/Max Results. The brokerage company, based out of Minneapolis, has rolled out a new mobile app within the last two months in which consumers can enter a time they want to be at up to three locations and a maximum drive time for each, and then see all of the homes for sale that meet their required commute times.

The app’s drive-time tool will also filter results using preferences like home price, and number of bedrooms and bathrooms.

The company also said in a news release drive times from listings within the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin markets served by Re/Max Results are based on traffic, location and time of day.

“Re/Max Results is the first in the Wisconsin/Minnesota area to have this app,” Murphy said. “It’s very user friendly, and will help buyers and sellers.”
