An Ellsworth native who’s made the rounds of the hospitality industry is back home operating a local dining establishment.

Donnie Sabby is now owner of the T-Bar, southeast of Ellsworth on Hwy. 10. Since assuming ownership, Sabby has not only upgraded the premises, but added new features.

“It’s always been a bar,” he said Wednesday. “I want it to be known as a family restaurant with a bar attached.”

Food, family and fun are what he’s emphasizing, and in that order, he said. Consistently high quality food is especially important and he’s already updated the menu in that regard.

“We’re known for our burgers,” he said, explaining they’re always fresh, never frozen. Breakfasts are on the list for weekends, complete with traditional favorites such as omelettes, French toast and more.

Meantime, families can come in and feel comfortable, Sabby said, noting there are two full kitchens to serve a separate dining room and the bar, with seating for 38. Besides the juke box, pool and arcade games, a 12-by-40 foot deck accommodates outdoor gatherings when the weather is appropriate.

Likewise, nine acres of land surrounding the restaurant-and-bar building are available, where he plans to eventually build a kickball field, he said. Dart, pool and volleyball leagues are offered.

The owner said music is another attraction. Rudy Rudesill has been a regular on the deck, singing selections ranging from classic country to pop. Live bands, many from the Twin Cities, appear twice a month.
