Prescott man faces drug charges after raid

A Prescott Police Officer prepares to remove a marijuana plant from the residence of Matthew James Horning on August 3. Officers executed a search warrant at his house.

A Prescott man was charged Monday in Pierce County Circuit Court with multiple drug charges after Prescott police raided his house over the weekend.

Matthew James Horning, 52, 800 Canton St., Lot 7, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was arrested at his house Friday evening.

Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko said in a news release officers had gone to Horning’s house on an unrelated matter and discovered what Bondarenko described as “an indoor marijuana growing operation.”

Police executed a search warrant the following day and seized several marijuana plants, indoor growing equipment, fertilizer and plant foods, and other drug paraphernalia.

“I am very proud of the work that our officers did on this major drug case,” Bondarenko said. “This is the second marijuana grow operation we have raided in the city this year. Our dedication to taking drugs off the streets of Prescott has resulted in these successful cases.”
