Multiple mailboxes vandalized in Dunn County

Dunn County Sheriff Dennis Smith reported Monday around 4:30 a.m., Sunday morning, the Dunn County E-911 Center received a report of gunshots in the village of Colfax along County Road BB at the west village limits. Deputies responded to that area immediately and upon checking the area, found a road sign had been shot and several mailboxes had been damaged. The caller also reported seeing the suspect vehicle drive through a yard and intentionally struck a mailbox.

While deputies in the area, two more callers reported mailbox vandalism on County Track BB and 800th Avenue near southern Tainter Lake.

Further investigation revealed that numerous mailboxes were damaged in Colfax and Tainter Townships. It was found that several mailboxes along 800th and 850th Avenue had mail removed from the box and strewn throughout the roadway.

The suspect vehicle was described as a red, early 2000's model Ford F150 half-ton pickup truck with a regular cab. There was also a second vehicle observed to be traveling behind the Ford pickup but no description is available at this time.
