Victim identified in Dunn County drug raid shooting
The victim in Wednesday's early morning drug raid shooting in Dunn County has been identified.
The Dunn County Sheriff's Office announced Dennis B. Grohn, 32, was fatally shot during a search warrant in Red Cedar Township.
Around 2 a.m., officers from the Dunn County Sheriff's Office, West Central Drug Task Force along with the Eau Claire County Regional Tactical Team were executing a warrant in Red Cedar Township. During the entry, a confrontation took place and Grohn was fatally wounded by officers.
Smith said officers with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation have been called in to conduct an investigation. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He added, the officers being placed on leave is not punitive or an indication of any wrong doing.
Red Cedar is located east of the city of Menomonie.
