Elmwood welcomes five new staffers

ELMWOOD--The Elmwood School District welcomed five new staff members for the 2012-13 school year that started earlier this month.

A Herald survey asking about their backgrounds and positions was given to them. Three responded. Their responses follow:

Taylor Brummond

Brummond is the new general music and choir teacher for K-12. She is an Oregon, Wis., native, who graduated from UW-Eau Claire earlier this year. She previously student taught at Pedersen Elementary in Altoona.

Brummond now calls Eau Claire home. She is engaged to Stuart Wallace. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, running, biking, shopping and anything music.

"I am very excited to builid confidence in the choral program and get my elementary students active and excited about music," she said.

Jamie DeGolier

The Comstock native is the new high school band director. She has student taught in Glenwood City and Woodbury, Minn., been a substitute in Prescott, Hudson and St. Croix Central, and has also worked with the Cumberland marching band since 2006.

DeGolier graduated from Cumberland in 2005 and then from UW-River Falls in 2010. In her free time, she enjoys reading and watching football. She is engaged to Tim Mills.

"I am looking forward to all the performances we have scheduled this year," she said.

Kristy Hoffman

Hoffman will be the new Special Education teacher at the elementary school. She previously student taught in Elmwood (first grade and special education) and in Menomonie.

The Circle Pines, Minn., native graduated from Centennial High School in 2006 and earned her degree from UW-Stout earlier this year. She was also the head leader for the Lino Lakes (Minn.) Park and Recreation Summer Program for eight years.

In her free time, she enjoys softball, coaching, scrapbooking and traveling.
