Kado reflects on 40 years of teaching
Brenda Kado knew what she wanted to be at an early age.
"My sister, neighbors and I would play school when we were little, but they would never let me be the teacher because I was the youngest," she said. "Then, I would mumble to myself, 'You just wait -- when I grow up, I WILL be the teacher."
She fulfilled that promise as she spent nearly 40 years as a teacher, 34 of those at Elmwood. Her career will come to an end this year, as she announced her retirement.
"Teaching in Elmwood has been a joy because of the people," the 1968 Elmwood High School graduate said. "The staff and administration are terrific! The kids are great, and the townspeople are very education-minded. This combination makes for a wonderful school and a fabulous place to work!"
