PRESCOTT--People find their callings at various points throughout their life. Some can find it in their teens, 30’s or maybe even later.

David Yanish found his in the early stages of life.

When he was three-years-old, Yanish saw the “Original Muppets Movie” by Jim Henson and was hooked by how the legendary filmmaker brought the story to life.

“I’ve always wanted to make stories like that,” said the 2014 Prescott High School Salutatorian.

A love of movies started and Yanish is now ready to make that passion his career, as he is headed to UW-Oshkosh to study film.

“Oshkosh has a great film program,” he said, noting some of their alumni have worked on films such as “Avatar” and the “The Hangover” trilogy.

When asked, his favorite movies show a variety: “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, “The Dark Knight” and Tim Burton’s “Nightmare before Christmas.”

“I love cartoons and Roger Rabbit is the mecca of cartoon movies,” he said. “It has every character in it, but it’s dark.

“The Dark Knight is well-acted, with great special effects. It’s a great movie.

“Nightmare before Christmas is weird, dark, creepy and different. I liked it as a kid and still love it.”
