Ellsworth to upgrade wastewater plant

The Village of Ellsworth has requested approval from the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to upgrade its existing treatment plant with a new oxidation ditch treatment facility.

The new oxidation ditch will allow the village to comply with proposed future effluent limits and provide capacity for anticipated residential and commercial development.

A new effluent lift station and a 3.5-mile outfall will pump treated effluent for discharge into Isabelle Creek at 410th Avenue.

The village will likely apply for a Clean Water Fund grant and loan to help pay for the construction. The estimated total project cost is $2,837,100.

The average user charge for a typical residential customer is expected to increase to $102 per quarter. Existing user charges are approximately $71 per quarter.
