PRESCOTT – Two months into his new job as Prescott Mayor and David Hovel was already upset about something.

“Everyone calls me Mayor, because they know it bugs me. I’m Dave, not the Mayor,” Hovel said as he talked May 29 to the Kiwanis Club of Prescott. “I’m a humble person and I want to stay that way.”

Hovel, a lifelong Prescott resident, defeated incumbent Mark Huber in the April 1 election. Hovel served on the Council as an Alderperson At-Large.

He explained as Mayor he tries to stay open-minded during Council meetings.

“We’ve got a good Council, a good balance of young and old,” Hovel said. “I try to listen to everyone and as most people know, I’m not afraid to talk.”

He asks of City officials and anyone else he will deal with in the future, “If you think I’m crazy, let me know, but at least check into what I’m saying.”
