Autumn clean-up of Rush River Oct. 23
EL PASO - The El Paso Community Club and members of several other groups are rounding up volunteers for an Autumn clean-up on the Rush River.
There will be breakfast for the first 100 volunteers on hand at the El Paso Bar and Grill at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23. At 9 a.m., stream assignments will be made by Arby Linder or his helpers from the Eau Galle-Rush River Sportsman's Club. Members of Trout Unlimited, Laughing Trout and the
Ellsworth Rod and Gun Club will provide some of the muscle.
Participants should expect to pick up various and sundry items including parts of picnic tables, tires and the usual cans and bottles. There is a significant amount of debris left by August flooding along the river's course.
Contact Linder at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
In 2009, over 210 volunteers gathered the mountain of garbage-1,300 pounds of trash, 1,280 pounds of tires, 460 pounds of recyclables and 440 pounds of scrap metal-from the river, which is known for running through towering limestone cliffs and wooded farmland valley.
