Filings for spring election in Pierce County start Dec. 1
Filings for spring election start Dec. 1
The election for area municipal and school offices may not happen until next spring, but the election season starts in late fall--specifically, Tuesday, Dec. 1.
That's when the nomination process for those offices to be elected on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, gets underway. Candidates will be able to circulate nomination papers or file, as appropriate, until closing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010.
Those seeking area school positions file declarations of candidacy, while those for municipal posts circulate papers, in most instances. Two area municipalities--the Villages of Bay City and Maiden Rock--hold caucus meetings for nomination purposes instead, on dates to be announced.
If a primary election is needed in any of the municipalities or school districts, it will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010.
