Congressman Kind announces he won't run for governor
OCONOMOWOC - Democrat U.S. Representative Ron Kind of La Crosse says he will not run for governor in 2014.
After delivering his speech at the state Democratic convention in Oconomowoc last night, he told reporters that his place was with his family and to fight tax reform in Congress. He did not rule out a run for Senate in 2016.
Democrats rallied at a convention with U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin of Madison receiving several standing ovations and applause. Senator Baldwin called for Democrats to oust Republican Governor Scott Walker and other GOP lawmakers. Baldwin accused Walker of being more focused on running for president than the state's middle class and the economy. Other speakers included U.S. Representatives Mark Pocan of Madison and Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca of Kenosha.
