MINNESOTA SPORTS ROUNDUP: White Sox take three of four from Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- Alexei Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to carry the Chicago White Sox past the Minnesota Twins, 5-2, in the finale of a four-game series at Target Field. Avisail Garcia doubled twice, scored a run and knocked in another, and Hector Santiago (4-7) earned his first win in nearly two months by limiting the Twins to two runs -- one earned -- on nine hits over six quality innings. Chicago won the final three games in the set, in part because Minnesota went 2-for-18 with runners in scoring position while squandering 12 baserunners on Sunday. Samuel Deduno (7-7) was charged with all five runs on eight hits over five innings for the Twins, who have dropped five of their last six games.

Today the Twins finish their series with the New York Mets which was started back in April. The game was originally scheduled to be played on April 14th but due to weather was postponed until today. In that original series, the Mets to each of the first two games by 16-5 and 4-2 finals. Today it's Kyle Gibson who gets the start for the Twins as he opposes Dillon Gee with a 1:10 first pitch. After today, the Twins are on the road the remainder of the week with three in Detroit followed by three in Cleveland.

Maya Moore made six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 28 points, as the Minnesota Lynx pummeled the New York Liberty, 88-57, on Sunday at Target Center. Janel McCarville and Seimone Augustus each added 12 points to help the Lynx snap a three-game losing streak. Katie Smith and Alex Montgomery netted 11 points apiece to pace the Liberty, who have dropped their last four meetings with Minnesota by a combined 99 points.

The Vikings are recovering from Friday night's 20-16 preseason loss to the Bills in Buffalo. Minnesota is back on the field this week as they prepare for their third exhibition contest against the 49ers next Sunday evening. Fraizer told reporters that running back Adrian Peterson would be utilized in the game. If that does come to fruition, it would be Peterson's preseason debut as he has yet to play a single snap in the first two exhibition games. While Fraizer did say Peterson would play, he would not divulge how much action they are hoping for.
