Mark Perley Wiberg
Mark Perley Wiberg, born March 23, 1936, in Ellsworth Hospital and died August 30, in Hospice Care in Illinois.
Mark was baptized and confirmed at English Lutheran Church. He graduated from Ellsworth Schools and then Gustavus Adolphus College. He entered Augustana Theological Seminary, Rock Island, IL and was ordained into ministry in 1962. He was pastor for parishes in Illinois and Minnesota his entire career. He had and enjoyed a number of years in retirement. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2016 and lived well with gratitude for 17 months.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie and Hilda (Bjornstad) Wiberg, and Bernard and Minnie (Herberg) Leadholm; his parents, Perley and Bernice Wiberg; and his sister, Martha Lee Wiberg Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Anne (Kilty); sons, Benjamin and John; grandsons, Hayden and Daniel; brother, Joel and sister-in-law Nancy Anderson Wiberg; brother, Paul; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
There will be a memorial service September 16th at Trinity Lutheran Church, Des Plaines, Ill., his final parish served. Arrangements by Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines, IL (ghillsfuneralhome.com).
There will be a Gathering to Celebrate Mark's Life in Minneapolis at a future date. Memorials are requested by family for the ELCA World Hunger Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church, Des Plaines, IL or NAMI.
Mark is remembered and greatly missed as a loving husband and dad, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend. Mark was a faithful pastor, guide and inspiration for many, including his many parishioners over his 36 years of ministry.
