Howard Blair Christenson, 96
Howard Blair Christenson passed away on Aug. 2, 2017, at River Pines Care Facility in Altoona, Wis., at 96 years of age.
Husband and father, teacher, tree farmer and life-long learner, grandpa (great) Howard was the first to initiate a sing-a-long and give spontaneous lessons in history.
As a World War II bomber pilot, Howard first ventured away from Spring Valley, Wis., to explore the world on the US government's travel plan. He and wife, Edna, continued to travel and shared interests in politics, writing, and gatherings with family and friends. Howard and Edna were fully involved in their Pierce County "tree farm" community and their Rush River Church Community. At 96, Howard has gone but his family is comforted by his readiness to move on to the next great adventure.
Howard is survived by his wife, Edna, currently residing at Care Partners Memory Care in Eau Claire; his son, Harlot (Pam) of Crystal, MN; son-in-law, Jeremy Lewis of Bend, Oregon; and daughter, Emily (Greg) Power of Eau Claire. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Kelly, Jarred, Aril, Erica, David, Esther, Brendan, and Katie; and six great-grandchildren: Ellen, Peter, Holland, Lucelle, Chloe, and Olive.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Irene Jill Lewis of Bend, Oregon.
A Memorial Service will be at 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, Sept. 9, Pastor Dave Teig will be officiating at Rush River Lutheran Church, N8623 Cty Rd. Y, River Falls, WI 54022.
