Michael J. Hager, 66

Michael J. Hager, age 66, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 with family by his side at his residence in Hayward, Wis.

He was born Oct. 29, 1950, in Plum City, Wis., the son of Francis and Janet (Hulverson) Hager. He was united in marriage to Laura E. Lee on June 14, 1980 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward.

Mike was a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Accounting. He soon moved to Hayward, where he took a position with Cliff Hanson CPA. Hanson-Hager CPA was formed a few years later and after Cliff's passing the firm became what is now Anderson-Hager & Moe S.C. Mike was community minded and enjoyed serving on the boards of the Hayward Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus and as treasurer of the Lumberjack World Championships since its inception. He enjoyed hunting, riding atv's and was an avid sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura of Hayward; his children, Aaron (Jaclyn) Hager of Madison, Wis., Matthew Hager of Hayward, Thomas Hager of Stevens Point, Wis., and Ashley Hager of Minneapolis, Minn.; his mother, Janet Hager; his siblings, Douglas (Mary) Hager, Roxanne (Robert) Pechacek, Charles (Lou) Hager, and Judith (Steve) Foley; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Hager; and a brother, Paul Hager.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 12 p.m. Noon on Monday, Sept. 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward, where visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass. Rev. Gerard Wilger celebrant. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
