Marvin Francis Raehsler

Marvin Francis Raehsler, age 85, died on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin, WI. Marv was born September 12, 1932 in St Paul, MN to parents, Francis and Edna Raehsler. He attended school in Spring Valley, WI, and graduated from Spring Valley High School with the Class of 1951. Marv served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. After his time in the military, Marvin hauled milk for years. He would be united in marriage to Carolyn Marie Werline on Nov 17, 1956 in Hammond, WI. Marv worked for the Village of Spring Valley with the Street Dept, and also as a part-time police officer. Marv started as a Deputy for the Pierce County Sheriff on December 31, 1969, and retired from there in 1984. After his retirement, Marv moved to Hayward, WI. Marv loved to garden, and do woodworking. After Carolyn's death, Marv married Maryann Thompson, and they resided in Earl, WI. Marvin is survived by his sons, Robert (Sheri) Raehsler of Ellsworth, David (Theresa) Raehsler of Menomonie, and Edward Raehsler of Menomonie; his daughter, Susan (Peter) Schlichting of Baldwin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Raehsler; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his wives; his parents; and his sister, Ellen Hall. Funeral Services for Marvin Raehsler will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 1st at the O'Connell-Benedict Funeral Home, 130 N. Grant St. in Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, and also from 4:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, October 31st at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at the Hammond Cemetery in Hammond, WI. Casketbearers are Jenna and Heather Raehsler, Nick Raehsler, Wade Schlichting, and Nicole and Keith Nelson. Servies have been entrusted to the O'Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of Ellsworth, WI. 715-273-4421
