Deborah A. Hofmeister, age 68 of Plum City, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at her home in Plum City.

Debby was born on August 10, 1949 at the hospital in Plum City. She was the daughter of Frank and Lucille (Milliren) Bechel. Debby grew up in the Plum City area and graduated from Plum City High School in 1967. After high school, Debby moved to St. Paul and worked for St. Paul Companies (St. Paul Fire & Marine). While in St. Paul, Debby met and married Gene Schmitz, together they had two sons. After the death of Gene, Debby moved back to Plum City. Debby married Roger Hofmeister, together they had three daughters and later divorced. Debby worked for Josten's in Red Wing, MN for over 40 years. After Josten's closed, Debby went to work for The Seasons in Plum City until she retired.

Debby's passions in her life were the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, her religious duties, singing in the choir, team trivia and the Packers. Most of all, Debby loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Debby is survived by her children; Tony Schmitz of Mesa, AZ, Jason (Tanya) Schmitz of Eau Claire, Luci (Jason) Hedeen of Wanamingo, MN, Bonnie Knutson of Plum City and Jacki (significant other, Marcellus Williams Sr.) Hofmeister of Rochester, MN, 12 grandchildren, eight brothers, three sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Gene Schmitz and one grandson; Maureese Williams.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City with Rev. Joseph Okine-Quartey and Rev. Kevin Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
