Bill Langer

Willard "Bill" William Langer, age 80 of Ellsworth, WI, passed away peacefully, on Monday, November 6, 2017. Bill was born December 15, 1936 in El Paso Township, WI to parents Arthur and Genevieve (Schober) Langer. Bill attended Ellsworth High School, and later served in the United States Army. Bill was united in marriage to Rita Coleman on October 2, 1965. Their union in marriage would be blessed with five children, and over 52 years of love and devotion. Bill worked for 42 years with the Pierce County Highway Department and volunteered 21 years with the Ellsworth Fire Department. Bill loved to travel, whether taking cruises or camping trips, he always had his family at his side. He grew up hunting and fishing with his brothers, and carried on those traditions with his sons and grandchildren over the years. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Bill is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Laura (George) Rodrigues, Lisa (Mike) Pope, Anne (Steve) Kasel, Jon (Veronica) Langer, and Chris (Trish) Langer; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Phyllis Coleman and Viola Janisch; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Bernadine Alden, Laurence Langer, and Calvin Langer. Mass of Christian Burial for Bill Langer will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the St. Francis Catholic Church, 231 W. Woodworth St. in Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday at the church, and also one hour prior to Mass on Thursday morning. Burial will take place at the Lost Creek Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the O'Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth, WI. 715-273-4421
