Old Cowbelle: The Boston Marathon

It's hard to understand what goes on in the mind of someone who would set off bombs with the intent to harm people. What kind of "twisted" person is that? Does he/she get some sadistic satisfaction, hearing about the deaths and serious injuries that was the result of their crime?

There must be no conscience present, just evil intent. The thoughts and prayers of so many will hopefully give some sense of comfort to those who were affected by it.

It's good to know that there are many more "good" people in this world than bad ones.

Last week, I had the privilege of "going to church" with Joyce at the Spring Valley Care Center. The lovely chapel was filled with wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and some visitors or residents of the Assisted Living part.

It is a comfortable and "familiar" feeling being with a whole room full of people of my own age. Usually, wherever I go, I am the only "really old person" there. Sometimes surrounded by young people, I feel like a fish out of water.

Pastor Pete delivered a great sermon, and we enjoyed the hymn singing and Holy Communion.

I told Joyce later that it was fun going to church with someone my age.

But attending church at Our Savior's always gives me a lift too. Pastor John's sermons and listening to the enthusiastic singing. We have an abundance of good singers.

I do love being amidst all of the young people and the little children. It's there I observe the "future of the church." I am so grateful as long as I am able to be there.

God Bless us all, young and old!

Get well wishes to Deloris and JoAnn; and Happy Birthday to Joyce!

I am writing this on April 17, about the time we should be looking for buds on the lilac bushes. Instead, I am sitting in front of a blazing fire in the fireplace, with a fuzzy throw over me, and we are promised another snow storm later tonight.

Crazy weather!

But, looking on the bright side, the chilly weather is giving me another chance to enjoy the fireplace. I love it. If we try hard enough, we can usually find something good in every situation.
