Old Cowbelle: Second Childhood?
Easter Sunday was again a very special day. The joy of the resurrection, beautiful church service with Easter lilies on every available space in the chancel, their delightful scent filling the air, and a good sermon and hymns of praise.
The day was warm and wonderful. It seemed like God was smiling down on the families gathering at Sandy and Terry’s, including those who were spending it in North Dakota and other places. Good people, good food, watching the little ones hunt for eggs all over the yard, and a new little baby to google over! Blessed day!
And…an unexpected surprise. Trent had brought along his 4-wheeler and all the little ones enjoyed rides around the yard. The 4-wheeler had once belonged to Husband and, when Trent bought it, he had it restored to its new blueness, and even though it must be about 25-years-old, it looks and runs like new.
Some of the kids wanted a picture of Grandma Cow sitting on it, just for fun. So I got on and then Trent started it up and said, “Don’t you want to take it for a little ride?”
And I did; across the yard, down the hill and back up again. What an unexpected treat for an 87-year-old woman!
To squeeze the handle and speed down the hill and feel the breeze on my face!
It almost made me feel like a little kid again. It made me laugh out loud! I had to give Trent an extra hug for providing me with the most fun I’ve had in a while!
And I can imagine Husband laughing too, looking down, shaking his head and muttering, “Honey, it looks good…but at your age, I think you’d better stay off machinery.”
