Cow Belle: Community Prayer Chain?

--Ina Murray

A recent request for prayer asked that a friend be added to anyone who had access to a prayer chain.

In the past, we have had “prayer chains” in our church, but when our women’s group and most of our “circles” disbanded, our regular prayer chain got kind of lost in the shuffle. We still pass on prayer requests all the time to friends, kind of like a prayer chain.

But it’s not very organized and maybe we overlook some very faithful praying people who are not aware of the need.

I was thinking how nice it would be to have a “Community Prayer Chain,” not limited to any specific church. So many more people could be reached that way and it could still proceed the way we always have. If using email, ask the person to let you know they got the message so you would know it would be passed on.

If telephoning and cannot reach the one next to you, just go on to the next one on the list. Then do your praying in your own time.

If anyone out there is interested in being a part of it, please send me your name, email address and/or telephone number. I would make a list and email it to each one who responds or mail it to those who don’t do emails.

We have so many people in our midst who would appreciate our concern. I’m thinking how many more prayers could be sent sailing up there! (HE would be overwhelmed, and pleased, I believe.)

Here comes the Pierce County Fair! I get nostalgic when this time of summer rolls around. I haven’t been there for several years, but I used to love it.

Even after our children no longer entered things, showed cattle or took part in the horse shows, I enjoyed sitting in the shade at one of the tables enjoying a hamburger and a piece of pie.

We do have one of the nicest fair grounds around, with all the tall shade trees on the grounds. And so much good food!

Each year, my children bring me a piece of pecan or raspberry pie from our church stand and one of them always brings me a funnel cake. So even though I don’t go there, I still get a “taste” of it.

Sorry to miss our 70th Spring Valley High School reunion, Class of 1944. (Health problems.  What else would it be at 87?)

Hi to whoever attended. Probably eight or so?
