PRESCOTT -- The Prescott High School Dance Team finished the 2008-09 dance season with continued success, bringing home another state championship.

On Saturday, PHS performed at the La Crosse Center along with 2,000 other girls for state championship awards given out by the Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches (WACPC). The Prescott ladies came home with a 1st place in Pom and 2nd place in Jazz.

The state championship completed a season of success for the Cardinals.

In December of 2008 the girls traveled to Menomonie for the Holiday Classic meet where they performed their pom and jazz routines and came home with a 1st place in both categories.

The conference meet, held in Eau Claire on January 17th, again was successful with two 1st place awards in Pom and Jazz. It was here that our ladies also performed individual solo and ensemble routines. Prescott came home with a full sweep of all -conference awards as every girl was named to the first and second all-conference teams.

On January 31st the competition moved on to the regional meet, again in Eau Claire, which included many schools throughout the western conferences of the state of Wisconsin. Prescott dancers again placed 1st in both Pom and Jazz categories.

Prescott's Senior, Shari Ahrar was named to the WACPC All-State Dance Team. This requires a performance of the dancer's solo at the state competition before a panel of judges. Ten individual ladies are chosen from the entire state.

Ellsworth High School's girls dance squad also competed in the state meet in both the Jazz and Pom categories but did not place. Both EHS teams were regional champions.

Prescott's season will wrap up on Sunday with a recital which will feature the junior varsity and varsity dance teams and their award winning routines, ensembles, solos, and recognition of individuals, managers and coaches. Recital will begin at 1 p.m. in the Prescott High School gym with a reception following.
