Ellsworth VB stays unbeaten by sweeping Elmwood

Ellsworth High School's volleyball team hasn't lost a game and Elmwood's volleyball team hasn't won a game since the season began last week. That continued Monday as the Panthers swept the Raiders 25-15, 25-23, 25-22 at Ellsworth High School.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the Game 1 and won it 25-15, although the Raiders did rally back to cut he Panther lead to five at 16-11 and 21-15.

In Game 2, the Raiders led much of the way thanks to good serving and bad Panther hitting. Elmwood had 11 aces in the match.

Elmwood led 23-19 before a lift call gave the serve back to Ellsworth. The Panthers scored the last six points led by kills from Claire Tingelhoff and Estelle Jensen.

Ellsworth led most of game three but Becky Wolf served Elmwood to within three at 23-20. Tingelhoff ended the Raider rally with a pair of kills.

Ellsworth improves to 6-0 over as the Panthers take on another Dunn-St. Croix Conference team, Glenwood City, tonight in Ellsworth. Elmwood drops to 0-4 and plays another Pierce County team, Prescott, at home Thursday.
