Newly ranked Central tops Prescott in non-con game

PRESCOTT - St. Croix Central broke into the Top 15 in the state coaches poll this week and the 12-1 Panthers showed why their ranked among the state's best with a 70-57 win at Prescott Monday.

SCC's high-powered offense produced four players in double figures scoring led by Kyle Cress' and Brad Walen's 13 points.

Prescott had two players in double figures led by Mark Nahorniak's 13 points and to go with 12 points from Karl Stenerson.

PHS led at halftime 36-34 and only trailed 50-48 heading into the fourth quarter before Central poured it on with a 20-9 fourth quarter effort. The Cardinals were also hurt by an 11-for-20 showing at the free-throw line.
