MADISON - Close but not close enough. Both Spring Valley-Elmwood's Brady Webb and Ellsworth's Levi Kuesel finished second in their respective state finals matches Saturday evening at the Kohl Center.

Webb lost to De Soto's Evan Miller at 103 pounds in Division 3 by a 2-1 score. Webb's lone point came with :05 seconds remaining in the match as Miller was called for stalling. Miller scored first on a takedown in the first period but Webb kept him from scoring for the remainder of the match.

However, Webb found himself unable to get any offense going on Miller who didn't do much on the bottom in the third period. But the stalling call came too late.

It was Kuesel who scored the first points of the Division 2 145-pound title match. He also did a good job of avoiding the firemen's carries that Erickson used to beat him in the sectional finals. But Erickson attacked Kuesel with single leg shots to his left and scored takedowns to go ahead 5-3. Kuesel got an escape and went after Erickson to get the winning takedown, but it was Erickson scoring to win 7-4.
