The Prescott High School softball team punctuated a 2-0 start after the first week of the season with a 9-2 win over rival Ellsworth. The loss also punctuated a 0-3 start for the Panthers.

PHS won its season and home opener 16-0 over Spring Valley-Plum City last Tuesday. Rain cut short a planned double header between the Cardinals of the St. Croix and the Eau Galle. And Kallie Krech cut short the game that was actually played as she tossed a three and a half- inning no hitter.

Krech struck out six in the ballgame, including the entire side in the second inning. Prescott catcher Alyssa Krings threw out an SV-PC at second base in the first inning.

Krech, Mary Kate Pryor and Sammy Hansen each had two hits for Prescott. Paige Durham also went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Krech doubled and drove in four runs. Pryor also had a double and Krings scored three times as well.

PHS also benefitted from seven walks that helped them score eight runs off one hit in the first.

On the same rainy Tuesday afternoon, Ellsworth played just three innings in the wet weather, largely due to the fact they were hammered by defending Dunn-St. Croix champ St. Croix Central 15-0.
