Prescott takes care of Hager City 16-9 in SCVL play

HAGER CITY - The game went back and forth but Prescott simply had too much hitting power for Hager City to catch up as the Pirates won a St. Croix Valley League game Wednesday at the Brown Sports Fields.

Prescott took a 5-1 lead after two and half innings, then the Skeeters scored two runs in the bottom of the second off of Ross Sweig's two-RBI single, before Prescott plated five runs in the top of the third to extend their lead to 10-3.

Hager City came back a game to extend the game to nine innings but was unable to get closer.

Luke Huebner was the winning pitcher. The Pirates' Chris Terrazas had 2 hits, including a double and four RBIs while teammate Nick Johnson had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.

Hager City's Tyler Regnier drove in a run with a double and made a brilliant backhanded stop of sharp ground ball hit towards and was able to throw the Prescott batter out.

Sweig and the Skeeter's Taylor Johnson both had two hits with Johnson driving in three runs.

In other SCVL action from Wednesday, Plum City dropped behind Prescott in the South Division standings with a 11-5 loss at New Richmond.

Upcoming games involving county team has Ellsworth at Menomonie at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Wakanda Park and Bay City at New Richmond, also at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Citizen's Field.
