HAMMOND - The Spring Valley girls' and Prescott boys' prep cross country teams won their respective meets at Thursday's St. Croix Central Invitational.

Led by the 4000-meter race winner Breanna Colbenson, SV had a the low team score of 51 to finish first in the 14-school event. Colbenson's winning time was 15:37.58 and she was followed by Prescott's Victoria Simones with a time of 17:01.87.

Valley's Emma Gaustad finished 9th, Sophie Koch 11th, Riley Bowman 14th and Elizabeth Anderson finished 23rd. Spring Valley also won the JV girls title as well.

Prescott was 11th in the competition and Elmwood was incomplete.

It had been a long,long-while since the Prescott boys won a meet title outside of their own school invitational, but they did so Thursday with a score of 74 points thanks to a 1-2 finish by the duo of Cole Hauenstein and Matt Pechacek. Hauenstein won the meet with a time of 17:54.43 and Pechacek's time was 18:24.03.

Other PHS runners places were Nick Helberg 6th, Cameron Cruz 25th, and Nick Strandine was 40th.

Spring Valley finished 11th and Elmwood was incomplete in the team scores.

The next meet for Pierce County teams is next Thursday at New Richmond.
