Prescott's Hauenstein repeats as MBC champ

AMERY - In just his third race of the season a rested up and read Cole Hauenstein ran a strong 17:24 time to win the boys' race at the Middle Border Conference meet Thursday.

Hauenstein repeated as individual boys' champion.

Ellsworth just missed on its chance to win three MBC boys team titles in a row. New Richmond broke the Panthers' string by a 32-63 spread. Prescott finished seventh.

EHS was still able to put three runners on the two all-conference teams. Lucas Green placed fifth, Tyler Marson sixth to make the first team while Caleb Gustafson made the second team finishing ninth. James Jean received honorable mention finishing 21st.

Prescott's Victoria Simones had her streak of MBC titles come to an end as well yesterday. She finished second to Osceola's McKenzie Fortier with margin 16:01 to 16:12.

PHS finished fourth as a team while Ellsworth was fifth. Emmie Carpenter and Amanda Murphy both made second team All-MBC as did Ellsworth's Kennedy Kowalchyk as she finished 12th. The Panthers' Rebecca Matzek received honorable mention finishing in 20th.

Both teams will compete in the WIAA Division 2 Black River Falls Sectional at Skyline Golf Course.
