EPC girls win SCC Invitational, several county winners

HAMMOND - There were individual and team winners from Pierce County at the St. Croix Central Track and Field Invitational held Thursday.

Only the running events took place in the meet as the track at St. Croix Central High school was cleared of snow but not the field event areas.

The Elmwood/Plum City girls' track and field team finished first out the 11 schools in the meet with 88.50 points. Prescott finished sixth.

EPC was led by relay wins in the 3200 meters in a time of 10:41.56 and in the 800 meters in 1:56.43. Members of the 3200-meter relay team include Heather Von Holtum, Elaina Danzinger, McKayla Brunner and Libby Feuker. Members of the winning 800 relay team were Von Holtum, Marah Boyer, Kaitlyn Lee and Jessica Olson.

EPC also got a first place from Sarah Gilles in and 100-meter high hurdles in :17.19 seconds plus several other top finishes, including a second for Boyer in the 200 and second for Danzinger in the 800 and a second and third for Gilles and Olson in the 300-meter low hurdles and a second in the 1600-meter relay.

Prescott's winners in the meet included Victoria Simones in the mile run in 5:37.46 and half-mile in 2:33. Prescott was also third in the 1600 relay.

Prescott's boys finished third while EPC was eighth. The Cardinals were led by Cole Hauenstein's wins in the mile in 4:40.25 and half-mile in 2:03.90. Sam Smith won the 200-meter dash in :22.79 seconds and PHS won the 1600 meter relay in 3:40.31. Team members are Hauenstein, Smith, Jack Geiger and Pat Ballosh.

EPC's best finish in the boys' meet came from its 3200-meter relay squad which placed second in 8:59. 16. Team members Hunter Schoengarth, Kyle Webb, Peter Fenter and Seth Jones.
