MINNESOTA SPORTS ROUNDUP: Twins snap home losing streak with win over Angels

Trevor Plouffe drove in three including the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Twins doubled up the Angels 6-3 at Target Field. The teams were playing a makeup game from an April 17th rainout. Josmil Pinto went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Twins, who snapped a franchise-record tying 10-game home losing streak set back in 1957 while the team was in Washington. Casey Fien picked up the win in relief and Glen Perkins earned his 33rd save. Kole Calhoun had three hits and an RBI, while Josh Hamilton added two hits and drove in a run for the Halos, who have lost two in-a-row after a three-game winning streak. Cory Rasmus suffered his first career loss.
Governor Dayton says he's glad the Vikings owners' personal wealth might be made public, as part of a New Jersey lawsuit over one of their real estate businesses. The governor says he understands why the Wilfs aren't in favor of it, but he also believes that transparency is generally in the public interest, "and so in this case I'm glad that the judge has made the determination that she has." The governor notes if there's an appeal the judge's order will be withheld until after that. Meanwhile, Dayton is waiting for the results of a special audit of the Vikings finances, which is expected to show that the Wilfs have the ability to meet their obligations on the Vikings stadium. That report could be made public later this week.________________________

The Lynx battle the Seattle Storm again tonight at Key Arena. Minnesota knocked off Seattle 75-60 on Saturday. The Lynx have now won six straight and continue to lead the WNBA at 24-7. After tonight's game, the Lynx will play their final road game on Thursday in Los Angeles before closing out the regular season on Saturday at home against Chicago.

The Timberwolves have made a couple of changes to their coaching staff. David Adelman, son of head coach Rick Adelman, has been promoted from the team's player development director to assistant coach. And, former Golden Gopher and NBA standout Bobby Jackson has been officially added to the staff, taking the spot of the younger Adelman as player development coach. Jackson had been an assistant coach for Sacramento the past two seasons. He helped lead the Gophers to the 1997 NCAA Final Four, although the accomplishment was later vacated due to an academic scandal that involved Jackson and others.

The Minnesota Wild will begin training camp later this week with a camp roster of 51 hockey players. Training camp will open at Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota campus on Thursday and then shift to the Xcel Energy Center on Friday. Minnesota opens the exhibition season with a game next Tuesday at home against Columbus. The regular season gets underway on October 3rd at home against the Kings.
