(Update) Prep volleyball playoff pairings released

Playoff pairings for prep regional volleyball tournaments have been released. First round matches are on Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. and three county teams will be at home.

In Division 2, Prescott and Ellsworth and square off right away.  The two Highway 10 rivals will meet Tuesday in Prescott. EHS, 12-15 overall, is a No. 5 feed and PHS, 26-16 overall, is seeded No. 4 . The winner is at No. 1 seeded and Middle Border Conference champion Osceola on Thursday.  The Cardinals rallied form a 2-0 deficit to beat Ellsworth 3-2 a few weeks ago. Prescott's win is what helped the Cards' finish above. 500 and in the top half in the MBC.

In Division 3, Spring Valley, 25-8 overall, is a No. 6 seed and will host No. 11 Augusta. The winner faces either No. 3 Arcadia or No. 14 Osseo-Fairchild on Thursday. SV is in a seeded half-sectional bracket. The top seed in this half of the Durand Sectional is No. 2 ranked Eau Claire Regis.

In Division 4, Elmwood, 5-20 overall, is at No. 3 ranked Clayton in a No. 2-No. 15 seed match-up. The Luck Sectional which Elmwood is a part of is loaded with some of the state's best teams, including No. 10 Turtle Lake, No. 7 Mercer, No. 4 Lake Holcombe, Clayton and the state's top team and sectional host Luck.

Plum City is in the Onalaska Luther Sectional. The top seed in its regional is Cochrane-Fountain City, who the Blue Devils beat last season for the regional title. The two teams may well meet again on Thursday if PC, a No. 4 seed, gets past No. 5 Eleva-Strum at Plum City while C-FC hosts No. 8 Alma Center Lincoln. The other half of the bracket has No. 2 Gilmanton hosting No. 7 Alma while No. 3 Pepin takes on No. 6 Independence at Pepin.
