The announcement was made via Twitter, although a more formal announcement should be expected soon. Anderson coached the Badgers to a 9-4 season in his first year n Madison after building up the Utah State program. Anderson replaced Bret Bielema, who left Wisconsin for Arkansas before taking he team to their third straight Rose Bowl appearance at the end of the 2012 season. Athletics director Barry Alvarez coached Wisconsin in the 2013 Rose Bowl. Bielema ended his first season at Arkansas with a 3-9 record. The terms of Andersen’s new contract were not yet released. His contract with Wisconsin when he was hired paid him a base salary of $1.8 million with an annual raise valued at $100,000 over the course of his five-year contract.

No.2 Wisconsin and No.6 Baylor have the largest margins of victory among teams that reached the Sweet Sixteen. On Thursday night, they will square off in the semifinals of the West Region. No team was more dominant than Wisconsin in the Round of 64. They easily handled No.15 American, 75-35, allowing just 13 points in the second half. The Badgers’ second game was much more difficult, as they overcame a 14-point point deficit to move past No.7 Oregon. Baylor might have the most impressive victory of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, thus far. After taking care of No.11 Nebraska 74-60, the Bears blew out No.3 Creighton, 88-55, in the field of 32. The Bluejays entered the contest ranked 16th in the latest top 25 polls, led by the fifth-leading scorer in college basketball history. The upset was never in doubt, as Baylor led by 20 points at halftime and never looked back.

As the higher seed, Wisconsin enters the game as the favorite. The betting line at most Las Vegas casinos has them giving Baylor 3.5 points. Neither team has done particularly well against the point spread.

A Marquette University spokesman told FOX 11 Tuesday afternoon no announcement on a new head basketball coach is imminent, nor is there any timetable for an announcement. Current head coach Buzz Williams stepped down from his position as head coach this weekend, leaving to become the new head coach for Virginia Tech. Despite reports that the University was close to hiring a new head coach, when asked for comment on whether or not current VCU coach Shaka Smart would be hired, the spokesman said he would not speculate on any candidates being considered, just that a decision was not forthcoming.
