WISCONSIN SPORTS ROUND-UP: Two homers by Braun lead to Brewers' win

PITTSBURGH - Ryan Braun hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the ninth inning, in a Milwaukee Brewers’ 8-7 win over Pittsburgh last night.

Jonathan Lucroy also added three doubles and two RBIs in the win. Braun, who’s faced the boo-birds for the entire season on the road, says it comes with the territory and “I take it as a challenge instead of personally”. The win propelled the Brewers to a league-best record of 13-5, including a 5-1 record over the Pirates.

Talks of a Green Bay Packers-Brett Favre reunion heated up again during this weekend’s Packers Tailgate Tour. Team president and CEO Mark Murphy says the long-awaited reunion is a priority and is hopeful it happens “sooner rather than later”. Murphy added that they hope to retire his number prior to Favre’s likely first ballot Hall of Fame nod, which he will be up for in 2016. Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby, a teammate of Favre, is also in favor of a reunion, adding that while he’s played for the Jets and the Vikings, he is a Packer and has done so much for the organization.

A retired hockey player is giving one hardcore fan the opportunity to own a piece of “Miracle on Ice” history, an actual gold medal from the 1980 games. Minnesota native Mark Pavelich is selling his medal through a Dallas auction house, with bids opening on April 25. The game is considered one of the most memorable in U.S. sports history, with Team USA beating Soviet Russia during the Lake Placid games. A previous gold medal was sold by Mark Wells to a collector for $40,000 it was later auctioned off in 2010 for around $310,000.
