MINNESOTA SPORTS ROUND-UP: Twins' winning streak snapped in Colorado

DENVER ( - Jorge De La Rosa pitched six strong innings and the Rockies got two-run homers from Drew Stubbs and Troy Tulowitzki to beat the Minnesota Twins, 6-2, to open a three-game series.

Pinch-hitter Brandon Barnes added a solo blast for Colorado, which has won three in a row. De La Rosa (10-6) scattered six hits and allowed a run to win his fourth consecutive start. Colorado first baseman Justin Morneau finished 0-for-4 in his first game against his former team. Morneau played in Minnesota for 10-plus seasons from 2003-13, winning AL MVP in 2006. Eduardo Nunez knocked in both runs for the Twins, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Kris Johnson (0-1) was charged with eight hits and five runs over four-plus innings.


Baseball fans will be in Minneapolis over the next several days taking part in numerous MLB All-Star events.  Melvin Tennant, president of Meet Minneapolis Convention and Visitors Association says it's a great opportunity to showcase the entire city with an estimated economic impact of about $75-million. FanFest opened yesterday at the Minneapolis Convention and Visitors center and runs through Tuesday.  Tennant says it's the largest baseball convention of its kind.  Doors open each day at nine.


The WNBA Minnesota Lynx will be back on their home floor on Sunday when they host the Seattle Storm at 2 p.m.  The Lynx beat Tulsa last night in Oklahoma 91-85 to improve to 15-6 on the season.  Maya Moore scored 33 points in the victory.
